About me

I’m a trained actress and voice artist, born and bred in the UK.

I grew up just north of London, and after completing a BA in English Lit I trained as an actor at one of the UK’s top drama schools. My natural speech is unaccented English/RP.

I work freelance, recording and producing in my pro home studio. Since 2013 I’ve worked in commercials, corporate brand video and explainers, podcasting, radio, videogames and audiobooks.

I now live in the north of England with my partner, my toddler, and a cat named Bill.

Working with me

Recording remotely
I’ll provide broadcast-quality files cleaned, edited and processed, in .wav format and at specified bitrate if you’re working to spec. Normal turnaround time is within 2 working days, but I can often deliver faster than this for urgent projects.

Live/directed sessions
I also offer live sessions via platform of your choice, including Source Connect (Standard). I’ll record at my end and send you the entire session recording raw immediately after the session. Please note I an currently not able to offer live playback.

Email me about my availability and I’ll respond within 24 hours.

Specialisms

Like most VOs I do a lot of ‘straight’ corporate work. But there are a few other things that I’m actually really great at as well.

  • I am a regular voice for The Guardian newspaper’s The Weekend podcast. Two of my articles were chosen for their ‘Best Of 2023’ series. I read the news obsessively and am a podcast addict, so I’m really confident in this area of voiceover. I love reading satire and editorial pieces with a strong point of view, but I also love journalistic deep-dives into human interest and culture stories.

  • I have worked in comedy ever since leaving drama school in 2012. In my very first professional job I danced and sang If You’re Happy And You Know It while wearing a giant chicken costume and I never looked back. Even though the big flappy orange feet kept coming off.

I have performed in multiple sell-out comedy stage shows and made crowds of up to 900 people laugh all at once. I’ve worked in sketch comedy, satire, improv comedy, Shakespearean comedy, and even LGBT adult panto. Visit my Spotlight profile for more on my comedy experience as an actor.

  • I have an MA in European Classical Acting from Drama Centre London, with a strong emphasis on Shakespeare. Before that I did a BA (Hons) in English Literature at the University of Warwick, also specialising in Shakespeare. I then spent six years performing with the hit off-West End and international comedy show Sh!t-faced Shakespeare, which involved improvising in Shakespearean language whenever a genuinely drunk actor decided to go off-script halfway through Romeo and Juliet. So I know my feet from my iambs and my Montagues from my Capulets.

  • I’m one of those English Lit grads who will bore you to death about the history and etymology of this word or that word, so complex, archaic, and technological language doesn’t scare me a bit. I studied Middle English at uni, and speak enough French, German, Spanish and Russian to be comfortable with most pronunciations (or at least know when I should call you to check). And I have worked with complex industry terminology in the medical, legal, and financial corporate worlds.

  • I have a qualification in proofreading, as well as a degree in English Literature. I will check every script I work on for errors as a matter of course, but if you would like a professional service on a script that has been translated into English, for example, I can help with this. I’m always happy to suggest edits to make the language feel more natural to native British ears, and I’ll never let a glaring error get past me into the edit.
